Statement regarding LockBit claims

Earlier this morning we became aware of tweets from LockBit, the cyber-criminal gang, claiming that they had compromised Darktrace’s internal security systems and had accessed our data. Our security teams have run a full review of our internal systems and can see no evidence of compromise. None of the LockBit social media posts link to any compromised Darktrace data. We will continue to monitor the situation extremely closely, but based on our current investigations we are confident that our systems remain secure and all customer data is fully protected.

Colonial Group Chooses Darktrace for Cyber Security

January 30, 2017

Darktrace, the leader in Enterprise Immune System technology, has today announced that Colonial Group International has become the first insurance company in Bermuda to deploy machine learning cyber defense technology in its network.

Colonial Group International is a leading insurance company which provides cover for businesses and individuals, including pensions services, health insurance, life insurance, as well as home, motor, travel and liability. The Group has fully deployed the Enterprise Immune System in its head office in Bermuda, and is in the process of deploying it across its other offices in the British Virgin Islands, the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands, and Turks and Caicos.

After a careful review of the cyber security marketplace, the Group selected Darktrace due to its ability to detect potential threats as they emerge. In particular, the Group benefits from Darktrace’s ability to learn and constantly re-calculate what is ‘normal’ for an organization, and to use this evolving understanding to catch threats before they escalate into crises.

The Enterprise Immune System works by understanding the evolving ‘pattern of life’ of each user, device, and the network as a whole. This technology, powered by unsupervised machine learning and probabilistic mathematics, developed by world-class specialists from the University of Cambridge, detects anomalous changes in behavior, and flags unknown threats to the Group’s security team.

Darktrace gives us unique capabilities that we didn’t have before,” said Ben Mobley, Technology Security Officer, Colonial Group International. “Its self-learning AI technology, along with the advanced and user-friendly Threat Visualizer, means that we are now using it as our default security tool.”
We are excited that Colonial Group International has joined the growing number of organizations across the world that rely on Darktrace’s Enterprise Immune System to defend their data and networks,” said Nick Trim, Managing Director, EMEA, Darktrace. “Machine learning is critical for cyber defense, as today’s cyber-threats are growing faster and more sophisticated. Ours is the only technology to work entirely autonomously – learning ‘normal’ without guesswork or prior knowledge.”
