Statement regarding LockBit claims

Earlier this morning we became aware of tweets from LockBit, the cyber-criminal gang, claiming that they had compromised Darktrace’s internal security systems and had accessed our data. Our security teams have run a full review of our internal systems and can see no evidence of compromise. None of the LockBit social media posts link to any compromised Darktrace data. We will continue to monitor the situation extremely closely, but based on our current investigations we are confident that our systems remain secure and all customer data is fully protected.

Gaming Giant Selects Darktrace’s Enterprise Immune System

November 19, 2015

Darktrace, the leader in Enterprise Immune System technology, announces that one of the world’s leading games and interactive entertainment companies has selected Darktrace’s technology as part of a proactive, adaptive cyber security strategy.

The company, headquarted in Asia, has developed many well-known video games and attaches great value to the integrity of its data assets. In recognition of the importance of protecting this intellectual property, as well as other critical information, such as customer details and corporate data, the gaming house prioritized cyber security as a key focus area.

The challenge for the company was to protect against both existing Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs) that are circulating the industry, as well as existing vulnerabilities that potentially exist within its network, including insider threat. Furthermore, it wanted a solution that would take into account the dynamic behaviors of its staff, who use social media and other third-party, data-sharing sites on a regular basis, without having to restrain their access and inhibit their capacity to work efficiently.

After a consultative review, the company decided to deploy Darktrace’s Enterprise Immune System, based on fundamental new mathematics and machine learning developed at the University of Cambridge, to help it understand its digital environment and detect emerging threat behaviors early.

Enterprise Immune System technology allows it to establish an adaptive understanding of what is normal for every user, device and the network as a whole, without any a priori knowledge. From day one, the machine learning and mathematics started building a ‘pattern of life’ for the corporate network, enabling the company to react to emerging issues and take proactive measures against potential problems, before they cause damage.

“Intellectual property is critical to the gaming industry, and yet security must constantly be balanced with flexible working habits and collaborative networks,” said Nicole Eagan, CEO, Darktrace. “We are delighted to help games companies protect not just their code but the totality of their data as well as their corporate reputation, by proactively spotting early indicators of compromise”.
